One of my favorite patients came in today. She's a tiny little Greek lady and she always brings a fresh batch of golden rounds covered with powdered sugar. Growing up we called these cookies Mexican wedding cookies or pecan sandies but from now on I'll call them Greek Cookies. They're not particularly sweet and really don't have much flavor but I LOVE them.
The first time she brought them Dr. Miller told me that before I ate a cookie I had to follow Greek tradition by rubbing the cookie around my mouth. Of course, I did this and ended up with powdered sugar all over my face and shirt. But it was worth it. I know that he was just teasing me about the tradition but sometimes I still do it anyway. The cookies seem to taste better when I make a mess eating them!
